2014 Badgers 1-0
We found out how our players respond to adversity on Monday night at War Memorial. On play 1 our starting tailback rolled his ankle and was not able to come back for the rest of the game. We turned the ball over 3 times offensively and put our defense in a bind. We lost the turnover margin 4-2. Those were the negatives. We must clean these negatives up. However, I am glad that we had this adversity because it gave us a chance to see what is in our players. The coaching staff loves what we saw.
The positives are that we won the game 42-13 despite losing the turnover margin. Our defense only gave up 13 points off of 4 turnovers. We had a goal line stand. Then we put on more steam. We scored right before the half. At half time everyone stayed calm. We were able to make adjustments to our game plans. Our players responded from the jump. The first drive of the second half we scored and it was over after that. Our superior conditioning paid off in the second half.
We are so proud of our players because of their relentless pursuit of the win. As we were walking out of the locker room from the half time break, one of our players came up to me looked me in the eye and said, “we got this coach” and then gave me a fist bump. It is in them. We are thankful for a win. We are also thankful that our fans outnumbered, out-cheered, and outclassed our opponent’s. We look forward to more fun Friday nights. On Wednesday, we will be naming the player’s of the game and releasing the stats. ITS A GREAT DAY TO BE A BADGER!
